I graduated from the Theatre Studies Department of Russian Academy of Theatre Art „GITIS”, Moscow where in 1996 I also completed my thesis on „Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz and Young Poland Culture” (in 2002 the degree was acknowledged as PhD in Literature by Hungarian Academy of Sciences). I also studied at the faculty of Gender Studies of Central European University, Budapest,  for MA in Gender Studies.

Still a post-graduate student, I began to work as a research fellow at the State Institute for Art Studies, Moscow.  The areas of my research include contemporary theatre and theatre of the past centuries, gender studies, women’s history and autobiographical writing.

In 2017, I was awarded a Lise Meitner Research Fellowship by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)  for a two-year research project dedicated to “Hugo von Hofmannsthal and Female Performers of His Work” (2018-2019) which I am currently conducting at the Institute of Cultural Management and Gender Studies of University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna,  in collaboration with my co-applicant Doris Ingrisch.

My previous project dedicated to the Polish Actress Irena Solska (1875-1958) was equally connected with the revision of the role female performers played in the esthetical upheavals of the early 20th century (Marie Curie Fellowship at the Institute of Literary Studies of Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, 2013-2015).
